Oh no, here it is again. Winter. I am cold and the weather is wet. A kind of day that you do not want to crawl out of the pit. The only trouble is there are plenty more to come between now and the summer.

What do others do during the winter months??

Wow, it is Sunday again. Wonder where the last week has gone. Oh well, after doing a few chores (maybe a lot of chores, up at 6am urghhh) I went to the local park to watch a local football match. What I cant understand is why there are so many screaming teen girls at the matches. Maybe I will never know. Will go to my local "Walkabout" bar this afternoon to watch the football on Sky Sports and probably finish up at a very good Italian eatery with a few mates after. Just as well I have Monday and Tuesdayoff this week.

Thats my boring day, so what about yours.

Needed to purchase a new DVD player today as the old machine sort of died on its last disc. I looked at the installation instructions and thought yeah, easy peasy, only two cables required, just plug and play. Huh ... fat chance. I had to read the TV manual before I even got near the correct cables in the correct holes. Eventually got the thing going but wow, could I get it to show it self on screen ... Three hours more of RTFM and switching the cabling and the Scart cable decided to split out. Purchased two more cables (hey, have they improved or what, nice and thin and twistable and much longer than the old ones, and even worse, more expensive than the last ones) Eventually got it right after about 9 hours. Now I cant find out how to make the disc record for more than two hours :( so I suppose that is more RTFM

What a great holiday. Not so cold as I thought it may be. St Petersburgh is a magnificent city in the norther parts of Russia. Many people call it the Venice of Northern Europe with 457 Bridges in the city. Obviously I was not allowed to go into the darker parts of the city but it is a city of old and new and you really need to see it to believe it. . Unfortunately unless you have a friend there it is a one-off holiday due to the costs of the hotels so make sure that you take a Camcorder and a Digital camera with a huge memory card. I took just under 700 photos and used 6 DV Tapes. I will put the pics on line at a later date with a link to them
