Yes, I'm in the United States. I did set my postcode "accurately" s couple weeks ago, but then no UK profiles showed up for me and I am looking to set up some dinners with UK ladies while I'm there--just hate the thought of dining alone. So, here I am back in the UK. Sorry for any confusion.
Just pretend I live in London (which I will for four or five days in December). :-) |

Several years ago I became fascinated by the story of theTitanic. I got involved with some of the Titanic groups that exist and eventually ended up going to a couple conventions where I met Millvina Dean, the youngest survivor of the TItanic. This was back in 1995. I've been fortunate to have corresponded with her over the years and just got a Christmas card from her last year.
She's 96 years old now and living in Southampton. I want to see her when I'm in the UK in December. I'm sure she is not doing much travelling these days. Meeting someone who was actually aboard the Titanic was and is something really special and not many people can say that. Soon, no one will be able to. I guess I just have a fascination for history. I got to meet a man who served in the US Army in World War 1. That was several years ago and he was 99 at the time. It just goes to show how recent some of history really is and we're only one person removed from some of these events. |

We just had an earthquake here in Southern California. They happen every now and then. I don't like the bigger ones, but as long as we're all safe then I guess we have to live with them.
This one wasn't too bad. I was about 40 miles away when it hit and I was in my car so I didn't get the full effect. Every time one occurs the media starts talking about the "big one" and how California is overdue. I'm not really looking forward to the "big one" and I wish the media would f-ing shut up about it. If it hits, we'll deal with it. If it's coming there's nothing we can do about it. The only thing we can do is be prepared (extra food, water, etc.). The media is always after ratings and scaring us is a great way to get them. Anyway, another earthquake. That's life in So. Cal. |

No wonder I've gotten mail from so many women here. I think my settings said I'm in the UK. Sorry, I'm in the USA. Now what will that do to my ego. Would they have written if I weren't in the UK? Even so, I've had some nice correspondence with members from all over the UK. I'm learning, too. I'm having to catch up on UK geopgraphy as well as learing how many pounds are in 1 stone. It's been fun.
It's the weekend and I'm feeling a whole lot better today than yesterday. Thursday was the Burbank Chamber of Commerce mixer. I am a member and I've got a bunch of friends there so they're always a celebration. And then a group will invariably want to go out afterwards. Bottom line, a lot of alcohol. Then I had a breakfast to attend on Friday which means getting up at 5:15 am and dealing with the lack of sleep and the hangover. I made it though and I'm in much better shape. I know I'm going to pay for it the day after, but I like to imbibe with my friends. The rest of the time I really don't drink that much. I want to be awake and fresh during the week and I love my sleep. I can guarantee that after even one glass of wine it'll wake me up at 3 am. Not worth it. |

I was hoping not to have to see the dog's body, but I felt good about being able to help my dad and perform this service (so he wouldn't have to strain his weakened back).
It was sad, but I'm glad I got to do it because I got to kiss the dog goodbye--she looked like she was sleeping. I guess I'm just very sensitive. Maybe this is all too sad, but I feel like I need to write about it.
