Back in Black

Thank you to everyone for their kind words. Appear to have rid myself of the 'lurgy' that has been doing the rounds. Cheered myself up with the purchase of a travel guide to California. Decided to take the plunge and see what all the fuss is about air travel.

Crawled out of my sickbed to comment on three things.

1) Tesco are already selling Easter Eggs.
2) Congratulations to my next-door-neighbour Rosie Swale-Pope for getting an MBE. For the uninitiated, Rosie returned from a five-year walk around the world in August. Looking forward to reading her book.
3) Can I wish everyone here all good wishes for 2009, and may all your dreams become a reality.

Now, back to bed with my iPod.

Joyeux Noel and all that ...

Happy Christmas everyone. Just turned 11am and already done three loads of washing as promised. Now just got to make the bed, put the washing away and then think about dinner.

For the rest of the day it's just me, bottle of Scotch, bottle of Archers, Jeeves & Wooster box set, and my Cure DVD.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the indulgent season.

Christmas Day was quite busy actually, with one thing and another. It's the 'legendary' Tenby Boxing Day Swim at 11.30am today, launched this year by Tenby's own (cough) 'legend' Rosie Swale-Pope, who's just returned from five years' running round the world. Rosie lives next door, and has already waved her collection box in my face and lightened my wallet by a good few quid. All in a good cause, though. Just walked round the town (annoyed that I couldn't even get a plastic sieve in Woolies (sorely tempted by the 'Build Your Own Lightsabre Kit')), and left with a copy of the new X-Files movie on DVD (just over six quid - bargain!) The sea looked terribly cold, and my heart goes out to the brave souls who will be immersing themselves in its icy depths in just over an hour. Might pop along for a gander and take some snaps. Boring, I know, but gets me out of the house and stops me thinking about the crap year I've just had.

Well, it's got to be Christmas. Nigella's got a new series on BBC2. She's just made this coffee ice cream / bourbon / butterscotch / digestive pie. It looked delectable. Sort of thing that would put me in hospital.

I really need to get back into the kitchen and experiment.

Well, walked past Woolies lunch time to behold queues of ever-so-slightly miserable looking shoppers with gift wrap, toy tractors and (heaven help us!) Mamma Mia DVDs.

Two weeks from now and you'll all hopefully have had a swell Christmas Day. I'd have got three loads of washing under my belt and watched interminable episodes of Top Gear by then.

Right, they're playing 'Lullaby'. I'm off ...

NICKYJO66	I really hope you're back on track and feeling hunky dory again...I have to admit (and it's a rare thing nowadays I think) that I have never been on a plane, not because I've been too scared to or anything like that, just never got round to it.
